Building More Than Homes

Creating a Place of Belonging, Support, and Purpose.

At Johnson-Reiland Builders & Remodelers, we believe our work extends far beyond the homes we build. Every project places us within a community—and with that comes a responsibility to contribute in meaningful ways.

We’re intentional about partnering with organizations and initiatives that make a lasting impact. One example is our involvement with Hillcrest Village, a community dedicated to creating a place of belonging, support, and purpose. Being part of efforts like this allows us to use our skills and resources to strengthen not just structures, but the lives connected to them.

Hillcrest Village was designed as a community-centered solution to some of today’s most pressing challenges—housing instability, affordability, and long-term sustainability. Developed through a collaborative, community-driven effort, it brings together emergency shelter, transitional housing, and long-term supportive housing into one thoughtfully designed environment.

What makes it even more impactful is its forward-thinking design. As one of the first net-zero energy supportive housing communities of its kind, Hillcrest Village is powered entirely by on-site solar energy—reducing long-term costs while creating a more sustainable future for its residents.

Giving back isn’t a one-time effort—it’s part of how we do business. Whether through service, support, or collaboration, our goal is to leave every community better than we found it.

Bringing Neighborhoods Together

Our Annual Block Parties

Each year, we host block parties within the neighborhoods we are building—bringing together homeowners, families, and neighbors to celebrate the spaces they now call home.

What starts as a simple gathering quickly becomes something more. Music fills the streets, conversations spark between neighbors, and connections are formed that turn houses into a true community. It’s an opportunity for people to slow down, meet one another, and experience the neighborhood in a different way.

For us, it’s one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. We don’t just build homes—we help create communities where life happens. And seeing those streets come alive with laughter, music, and connection is a reminder of why we do it in the first place.

Northfield Market Fair

Johnson-Reiland was proud to be part of this year’s Northfield Market Fair, connecting with the community we’ve served for decades. It was a great opportunity to meet new faces, catch up with familiar ones, and share more about what we do. We also brought a little fun to the event with two prize giveaways, inviting attendees to take part in a guessing game at our booth. The engagement and enthusiasm made it a memorable day, and we’re grateful to everyone who stopped by to be part of it.

Bringing Towns to Life

Living in a neighborhood is only part of the picture—supporting local arts, culture, and the environment has always been a core focus of our giving at Johnson-Reiland. Through continued partnerships and donations to organizations such as the Northfield Youth Choir and Habitat for Humanity, we strive to foster growth not only in housing, but in the communities and shared spaces that bring people together in the first place.
